Neapolitan Sugar Cookie Bars

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Add eggs, vanilla extract, and milk; mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture.
  6. Divide the dough into three portions; mix the cocoa powder into one portion and leave the other two plain.
  7. Spread the plain dough in the pan, then add layers of strawberry jam, followed by the chocolate dough.
  8. Bake in preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until golden.
  9. Let cool, then cut into bars and serve.

Notes

  • For a fun twist, add sprinkles on top before baking.
  • Keep an eye on the bars towards the end of baking time to avoid overcooking.
