French Chicken Casserole a la Normande

A delicious and creamy casserole featuring tender chicken and turkey bacon, inspired by the classic French dish from Normandy.

  • 4 cups cooked chicken, shredded
  • 6 slices turkey bacon, cooked and chopped
  • 2 cups mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese ( Gruyère or Swiss)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, sauté onions, garlic, and mushrooms until soft.
  3. Add the shredded chicken and turkey bacon to the skillet, mixing well.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, chicken broth, Dijon mustard, thyme, salt, and pepper.
  5. Pour the cream mixture over the chicken and mix until well combined.
  6. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and sprinkle with cheese.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, until bubbly and golden on top.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, consider adding some white wine to the mix.
  • This dish can be made ahead of time and refrigerated before baking.
