- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/4 cup red food coloring
- 1/4 cup green food coloring
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for dusting)
- In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth.
- Add the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract, and mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the flour and mix until a dough forms.
- Divide the dough in half and color one half red with food coloring and the other half green.
- Roll each colored dough into a rectangle, layer them on top of each other, then roll them into a log.
- Chill the log in the refrigerator for at least an hour.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and slice the log into rounds.
- Place on a baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are slightly golden.
- Let cool and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
